Release Portuguese line up

The line up of the first-ever Portuguese Sensation is released. On the 9th of May 2009, Sensation will come to the Pavilhão Atlântico, in Lisbon. 

Sensation is due to debut in Portugal on 9th May, 2009 at Pavilhão Atlântico in Lisbon and is extremely pleased to present the world-class DJs providing the musical backdrop to this monumentous occasion:

ERICK E

DJ/Producer Erick E has been at the top of Dutch House music scene for the last ten years. Hi career began in 1986 and in 1995 he became a fixture on Saturdays at the legendary Dutch temple of House: Roxy. At the beginning of 2006 Erick E’s “Boogie Down” topped the Dutch Top 40 chart for 5 weeks. His single “The Beat is Rockin” was released in several European countries, reached the top 10 in the Netherlands and made the British top forty40. These were followed by re-mixes for names such as Martin Solveig, Todd Terry, Ron Carroll and Sandy Rivera. Also in 2006 he won the award for Best House DJ in the Netherlands, but he does not restrict himself to that country and travels around the world. Hi energetic mixes, the enthusiasm of His performance and His charisma are the main reasons for his popularity. Erick E actually interacts with his audience! Erick E is already well-known by Sensation audiences and Portugal will be his 9th Sensation show.

DIEGO MIRANDA

Diego Miranda is part of a generation that left its mark in the Portuguese dance music scenario. Winning the Dance Club and Portugalnight magazines Best Newcomer Dj Award in 2006 and 2007 took Diego Miranda to a new level and he keeps going. The artist, is the official dj for the Baccardi tours, he has 2 labels at his charge (Labrynth and New Breed)These are some of the activities that this restless DJ does with success. Proof of it, are his themes that were worldwide top sales as "When You Come" (Mue Records) and "Sim City" (Stereo Productions). Early this year, he released "Its logic" (AU Records), "Zenga" and  “Sporting”(New Breed),remixed tracks of Kevin over and Julian poker, at the same time that he prepares parallel projects with several other artists like Mastiksoul, John-e e Jackspot. Diego Miranda did as well several compilations, as "Olá Love 2 Dance" (2006), "Portugalnight" (2007) and "Ministry of Sound" (2008), where the first two became gold records! On the other side, regarding big events, he is always cherished by them, like MTV Shakedown, 4 Editions of Olá Love2Dance, Sunrise Festival, Dance in Douro, CreamFileds Lisbon, Festival Sagres Albufeira opening for Bob Sinclair, Rock in Rio and Oporto Beach Party with Tiesto. In the meantime Diego had the opportunity to play in countries like England, France, Luxembourg, Spain, Brazil, Angola, Egypt and Russia.

MASTIKSOUL

In 2008 Mastiksoul managed to get 80% of his work to reach the Beatport Top 10 and his track "Jacobino" was voted the 5th best track of last year, which led to his making the cover of the January 2009 edition of Dance Club magazine. For these reasons many consider Mastiksoul to be the most successful Portuguese artist of the last few years. With more hits in 2008 than any other Portuguese artist, Mastiksoul has consolidated his position as one of the best in the world. He also managed to distinguish himself with his unique style and thus create his own style known as “Mastiksoul Style”. After the tremendous success of the remix of “Rap das Armas”, by MC Cidinho and MC Doca, he has now been invited to remix “Rap da Felicidade” by the same musicians, another hit expected in 2009. Also in terms of production MastikSoul has just finished remixing Portugal’s current biggest hit “Ritmo do meu Flow”  by Flow212, which may be this summer’s biggest hit on Portuguese dance floors.

MEGAMIX

The time of night when the DJs stand back and the Sensation audience shines! For 30 glorious minutes the performers and people create a unique moment of Sensation fusion. Created and perfected over the years by the Sensation creative team, Megamix includes sights and sounds of incredible mastery and talent.

SEBASTIAN INGROSSO

Sebastian Ingrosso has recently had some top years, after a series of record launches in 2005 and 2006, going round the world in 2007 and launching Swedish House Mafia in Miami, as well as the Amnésia stage in Ibiza.  Sebastian, Sensation’s resident DJ, impressed the Sensation Chile audience on 14th March and will now quickly win the hearts of the Portuguese audience.

FELIX DA HOUSECAT

Twenty years ago, this Prince fan was welcomed to Chicago by the Pioneer of Acid House, DJ Pierre. Playing around in the studio led to creating “Phantasy Girl" in 1987, a big underground hit, which set him off on the road to stardom. He stopped doing underground at the age of 25, when he decided to make “songs.” One of the most important moments of the 90s was his single In the Dark We Live (Thee Lite)" under his pseudonym Aphrohead. Originally published by British label Bush, it was later licenses by Emotive Records, a New York label and launched in the United States. The remix “In the Dark We Live” by Dave Clark was a hit by New York legend Junior Vasquez in the famous after-hours bar, Sound Factory. In 2001 he released “Kittenz and Thee Glitz” an LP that was highly praised and helped him gain mainstream notoriety in articles in top magazines all over the world - not to mention his remixes for Madonna and Kylie Minogue. Felix astounded the audience at Sensation Amsterdam last year and is now going to amaze us in Lisbon.

TOCADISCO

With "Nobody Likes The Records That I Play" the whole world became aware of Tocadisco, aka Roman Böer, considered to be one of today’s top Electronic DJs. "Learning by Doing" is certainly one of this man's mottos and in an extremely short space of time this studio magician taught himself to record and produce” tracks including the extremely well-received album ‘Solo’, on which we can hear such hits as “Better Begin”, “Street Girls” and “Morumbi”. However it is his synergy with the audience and the pleasure he gets from playing live that really excite Tocadisco and he is planning to bring this contagious enthusiasm to Lisbon.

As well as this central area, the first Portuguese edition of Sensation – The Ocean Of White’, will make use of the “Sala Tejo” of Pavilhão Atlântico to house its VIP Deluxe area which, as it is outside the main area of the event, will have its own line up of DJs, as outlined below:

W.L.G. – Verónica Larrenne & Simone

This duo of female DJs has been thrilling dance floors all across the world! Simone and Verónica met when they were working as professional models and that is where their friendship and great affinity and passion for music was born. In 2007 they decided to learn the art of DJ-ing at Dance Planet. The chemistry of playing together easily brought them to the W.L.G. Project. Their influences range from Deep House, Soul, Funk, and Techno House, and they always aim to please the audience of each live set. Their influences include DJs Tony Humphries, Deep Dish, Miguel Migs, Dennis Ferrer and many more. What makes the duo most original is their training as they are made up of a DJ (Simone) and a singer/MC (Verónica Larrene) that provide an improvised live act over each DJ set.

Pedro Cazanova

Pedro Cazanova began his career in 1997, taking his first steps in his mother’s bar, but the future held greater things for him and he is now known on the dance floors for his precise, balanced and electrifying mixing style. He calls himself an appreciator of good music, but most especially of House. Dedication and persistence along with talent led to being invited to be resident after-hours DJ at Paradise Garage and more recently at BBC Lisboa and Lollipop. This DJ made first moves into production by producing the anthem of Lisboa Parade 2003 entitled, “The Portuguese Guitar” for which he mixed the strong sounds of House with the melodies of the Portuguese guitar. His most recent production “Selfish Love” is a national and international success and is one the sounds most heard in Portuguese clubs.

Pedro Tabuada

At the age of 22 he stood part for being nominated for DJ Revelação (DJ Newcomer) at the 2002 Dance Club awards alongside Pate Tha Zouk and Peter G. With his career constantly on the rise, in three years he became one of the most sought-after DJs in Portugal playing at the main clubs such as Indústria, Pedra do Couto, Loft, Vaticano, Pacha, Buddha Club, Capítulo V, Queen's, Kremlin, and others, as well as at the best events and tours held in Portugal such as Elektro Parade, Lisboa Parade, MTV Tour, and Bacardi Tour, for example. Pedro Tabuada is internationally renowned and often plays in Spain, Brazil, Switzerland and Angola. His style is pure House and he explores all of its varieties. He is one of the Portuguese public’s most well-loved DJs. He currently also dedicates part of his time to production and has released a record on sale by Beatport and TrackinSpain.

De Man Zonder Schaduw

De Man Zonder Schaduw (DMZS) has influenced the extravagant subculture and it’s unique atmosphere with his exceptional record choice and untameable partyspirit. A learning process that has made him a highly requested DJ that plays all over Holland weekly. What striked from the start is that he’s got the talent to create a special atmosphere. His record choice and love for melody form the basis of his own unique sound. It’s his background as a collector and an early age raver that form the basis for this unique quality and which have made him the DJ he is right now. Without labelling his style a good description would be to say it’s pure party music. He plays techno, house, minimal, progressive and classics altogether, and it’s this variation in styles that makes him a DJ that can take a crowd away for a long journey. It was only 2004 when he performed for the first time, and after that things went really fast with 2006 as a true rollercoaster year. The year 2007 also brought him his international breakthrough with a couple of gigs in Germany.
