Q&A: Sensation Amsterdam 2017

Why is this the last Sensation Amsterdam?

After 18 years, we feel that it’s time for renewal. This can be done in two ways: you either keep doing what you’re doing or you say goodbye and start something new. We chose the latter; stop at our peak and put our full focus into something new.

Does this mean the end of Sensation worldwide?

No, we only say goodbye to the Netherlands with ‘The Final’ edition. Sensation international will continue abroad.

Why will Sensation continue abroad?

Sensation is based in the Netherlands. It began as a concept from Duncan Stutterheim and Eric Keijer, both season ticket holders of Ajax. They thought of turning the Amsterdam ArenA into the biggest nightclub in the world. This succeeded and with the introduction of a white dress code, a unique dimension was added. We have successfully Celebrated Life with Sensation White in 34 countries worldwide and we will continue in doing so abroad. For the Netherlands, however, it is time to say goodbye and come back with something new.

Does this have to do with declining ticket sales?

With Sensation Amsterdam, we still sell out the entire Amsterdam Arena and this will also happen with ‘The Final’ on July 8th.

What separates ‘The Final’ from other Sensation shows?

We have a phenomenal lineup with (in order of appearance) Mr. White, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Fedde le Grand, Hardwell, ‘Special Guest’ and Axwell & Ingrosso, hosted by MC Gee. Fedde will play the megamix live, showcasing all the biggest hits of Sensation throughout the years. In addition, the last closing hour will be a back-to-back set with an array of Dutch DJs that have played at Sensation in previous years. One thing is for certain: Sensation Amsterdam will go out with a big bang!

Who is the ‘Special Guest’?

Still to be announced.
