Denmark Sensation Line-Up Announced
Sensation is pleased to announce a stellar line-up for Copenhagen
On 15 November 2008, almost 30,000 visitors will spend a night at Denmark’s first ever Sensation party, at the PARKEN stadium in Copenhagen. Sensation is delighted to announce that the world-class DJs providing the musical backdrop to this momentous occasion will be (in order of appearance):
DJ/Producer and sensation favourite Erick E has spent the last decade at the centre of the Dutch house music scene. His enthusiasm and charisma behind the decks lead to the Best House DJ award 2005/2006 in the Netherlands. Erick has DJ’d across the globe, from London to Ibiza, Miami Beach to Jerusalem, and has also run a series of his own nights, EVE, hosting a series of other top DJs. His work as a producer is also notable, having worked on several collaborations as well as solo projects - in early 2006 his single ‘The Beat is Rockin’ was released in several countries across Europe and reached top 10 in the Netherlands and entered the UK top 40! His energy and danceable grooves will win over the Sensation audience immediately.
Since the late 1980s, Kjeld Tolstrup has been widely regarded as the King of DJs in Denmark. National Radio host, founder of the hottest clubs in the country, DJ for His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark, Tolstrup has a well deserved status as the most eclectic DJ around. By playing the deepest underground, or the most flashiest set, next to Grace Jones or Boy George, Tolstrup can get anyone to go crazy on the dance floor, from electro-clash club kids to regal ambassadors.
Montreal-born DJ-Producer Tiga was weaned on the notorious 1980’s club scene before returning to Montreal and setting up the City’s first genuine rave, ‘Solstice’. 2006 saw the release of Tiga’s debut album ‘Sexor’ which was then toured across Europe and Canada. His latest single ‘(Far From) Home’, in which he vowed to make the world go ‘Tig-unnggggggggh’ won him a coveted ‘Admiration-in-Japan’ Medal, and includes remix work by the DFA, Digitalism and Chicken Lips, showcases his exotic voice and own remix. Tiga is taking a break from his latest remixes for Coldcut and the Pet Shop Boys to wow the crowds at Sensation.
The Megamix is traditionally one of the highlights of Sensation. It is a special moment during the night when not the DJs but the music itself is the star of the show. Compiled by one of the musical masterminds of ID&T, it's a musical trip through history that features a range of old and new classics, that always makes the crowd go wild. A celebration of 20 years of house music that is brought to life through a spectacular show and fireworks display.
A DJ since 1993, Rune is probably the biggest ‘house’ DJ in Denmark. Not that Rune only plays house music – but what he is best known for, and what he is without doubt the very best at, is playing pumping house that gets people to sweat. Rune himself is one of the hardest DJ booth dancers in Europe – sometimes knocking the needle off the records during his set because he is dancing so much! Rune made it big internationally in 2003 with his hot single ‘Together’, and then again even bigger with ‘Caladria’ in 2005, which remains a classic hit on dance floors from London to Ibiza today.
STEVE ANGELLO & SEBASTIAN INGROSSO
Swedish ‘Partners in Crime’, and two of the names behind the Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso will follow another huge year by playing a back-to-back set for the Sensation crowds. The pair have an abundance of releases and awards between them, including the acclaimed ‘Best Newcomer’ accolade at the 2005 DJ Awards in Ibiza for them both, and a nomination for ‘Best Producer’ for Angello.
With successful Size residencies at Ministry, London and Pacha, Ibiza, and a smash hit single as Supermode under his belt, Angello has had an incredible year. From the Supermode smash (‘Tell me why’ was a hit from Ibiza to Brazil and beyond) to stylish remixes of Justin Timberlake, Moby and Royksopp, Steve – with a little help from his friends – has helped put Sweden on the map like no other DJ in acid house history. His energy levels are never less than stunning – watch him go!
It has been an ‘On the Road’ year for Ingrosso, 2007 seeing him touring the world – after a slew of releases in 2005 and 2006, as well as the Swedish House Mafia take over of the Miami scene and of Amnesia’s main stage in Ibiza. And now Sebastian is looking forward to bringing some of this magic to Copenhagen.
The Ocean show that premiered in Amsterdam this July will be providing an impressive stage in Copenhagen. Over 8 hours of choreography will take you to the depths of the ocean. A breathtaking underwater world with an 80-meter riff dividing the dance floor, creatures from the deep all around, and water fountains shooting up to the roof, will be accompanied by the most spectacular special effects, lights and lasers.
