Where does the money go to?
So far Sensation has made it possible for dance4life to reach 23,277 young people around the world, empowering them to halt the further spread of HIV. dance4life is active in almost 30 countries on 5 continents. For example in Russia and Kenya.
Russia
In 2011 30 regions of the Russian federation were implementing dance4life (one third of the country), including standing up for the reproductive rights of youth in Russia – like access to sexual education and condoms. Last year 28,394 young people involved with dance4life, learning about how to protect themselves and actively doing something about it. For example on World AIDS DAY (1st December) dance4life teams in 10 Russian regions organised actions aiming at informing people on HIV and AIDS and encouraging them to undertake HIV test. As a result of these activities 2,459 people got tested!
Young people count for 3 out of 4 of every new HIV infection in Russia. Drugs are a serious problem for young people in many regions, it’s a way of escaping daily reality. 75% of men become infected through sharing needles, whilst for 65% of women it’s through unsafe sex.
Kenya
In 2011 Sensation founder Duncan Stutterheim together with DJ Chuckie visited dance4life Kenya. Together they experienced the power of music and dance in creating awareness around HIV and AIDS. Watch their impressive video report here:
